Lead Box Truck Driver

Job Summary:

Drive a truck, primarily to deliver or pick up office equipment and supplies within a specified area.

Essential Functions:

  • Load and unload trucks in a safe and timely manner using Centric issued equipment (including ratchet straps, shrink wrap, corner boards and blankets)
  • Verify the contents of inventory loads against shipping papers
  • Install office equipment at customer location
  • Obey traffic laws, and follow established traffic and transportation procedures
  • Inspect and maintain vehicle supplies and equipment, such as gas, oil, water, tires, lights, and brakes in order to ensure that vehicles are in proper working condition
  • Report any mechanical problems encountered with vehicles
  • Present bills and receipts, and collect payments for products delivered or loaded
  • Maintain records such as vehicle logs, records of cargo, or billing statements in accordance with regulations
  • Read maps, and follow written and verbal geographic directions
  • Report delays, accidents, or other traffic and transportation situations to bases or other vehicles
  • Install and remove hard drives from MFPs
  • Connect equipment to customer network at installation
  • Load IP addresses and install drivers into new equipment
  • Assist in the interview process for new drivers and helpers
  • Responsible for training new hire drivers and helpers on all aspects of the delivery process including use of Escalara stair climber
  • Coordinate delivery of large installations with the help of delivery team

Additional Responsibilities:

  •  Assist warehouse personnel with stocking supplies, wrapping machines and cleaning warehouse
  • Attach accessories to the office equipment (finishers, cabinets, etc.)
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications: (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities)

  • Knowledge of principles and methods for transporting valued products by road
  • Strong navigation skills; familiarity with the Baltimore-Washington region preferred
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Strong oral communication skills
  • Professional and courteous demeanor
  • Ability to perform physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, bending, stooping, pushing, pulling and handling of materials. Lifting requirement-up to to 75-100 lbs – team lift up to 300 lbs
  • Proven ability to operate cargo van, 16ft, 18ft, 20ft, 22ft or larger vehicles in all areas and all surroundings serviced by Centric Business Systems.

Required Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma
  • 2-3 years of delivery driving experience
  • Clean driving and background record
  • Track record that demonstrates success and work stability

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations Required:

  • CDL or Valid C Class driver’s license
  • DOT certification required
